Leeds Authorities Make Way for Home offices by Closing Office Space
In a new plan that may lead to savings amounting to almost ₤88m spread out over a period of 25 years, many council office buildings that are located in the
On the basis of the plans which will be discussed in detail soon, staff may be shifted to five buildings that are in one central location. Moreover, due to the proposals, employees may be directed to work from their home offices that run with technology like an IT network to connect them together along with VOIP for the purpose of business calls.
The basic idea behind this plan is the creation of flex desk use facilities to see to it that the maximum number of staff members work from home as possible in the applicable areas related with council business. Lending weight to this plan is the fact that it would develop an environmentally friendly city centre as it would lead to reducing the car traffic that is in the area.
Councillor Richard Brett who is in the Executive board member for resources feels that the council does not really require the presence of people who are used to a day long routine desk job, but instead flexible staffing with staff out and about is now a possibility. He further suggested that selling or leasing unnecessary buildings that come under the new plan will help reduce the Council’s expenses every year.
The new plans constitute a part of a new project, Changing the Workplace that will be discussed when the council’s Executive Board meeting takes place in the near future.
